Hermana Clanton??
HOLA.
Oh my goodness. What a week.
So many bittersweet goodbyes on Tuesday. I'm not much of a hugger, but I did not want to let Sister Abegglen go! I also got to see Elder Moyes and Elder Monson before they flew home which was special!
I made it to Portland with Sister Judson! We went knocking in Ionia and the first 3 doors were so mean and some people outside just straight up ignored us haha it was tough. Sis Judson was like "If this next door is like those other ones, we're going home." She was so done. We knock the next door and the most elect girl ever opens the door. Jessica was her name. Her friend Vina is going through a hard time. We gave her a Book of Mormon and prayed with her. The spirit was strong on her porch. Next door, we meet Larry, and got his number. The next door we meet Anne and her daughter Anastasia. They have been looking for a church to attend! We also gave them a Book of Mormon and set up a time to meet this next week. Making 4 friends in a row is so rare, especially knocking! But here's the crazy part. We knock the next street over and WE MADE TWO FRIENDS THAT ONLY SPOKE SPANISH. One guy opens the door and says "no hablo ingles" and I said "oh no te preocupes!!" Then my high-school C+ Spanish just took off. I didn't even know I knew certain words to invite someone to church let alone invite them to eventually get baptized but there we were. Sister Judsons mouth was just wide open and I literally couldn't remember a thing I said expect for "cómo te llamas" haha. I really got to feel the gift of tounges on José's porch. Then a couple doors later we meet Mario. Bro. Same thing happened. It was indescribable. You can imagine how excited I was to give the Spanish Elders the referrals haha.
We met Todd this last week and he's literally terrifying but that's okay. He's SO interested in growing his faith which is unfortunate because he's head over boots for us. It's so hard because he really does want to come closer to Jesus Christ. We put him on a soft baptismal date the day we met him. Like he's just ready. But he's looking for a wife at the same time and we just can't work with that .
We made these "JESUS LOVES YOU" posters and we're gonna go stand out on the corner with them and hopefully people will pull over hahahahha, Lacey, I just know you're laughing at this. It's gonna be good!
I wanna share this cute poem my friend sent me! His dad wrote this, his first week serving his mission years ago-
Prayer
I got up early one morning
And rushed right into the day;
I had so much to accomplish
That I didn't take time to pray.
Problems just tumbling about me,
And heavier came each task;
"Why doesn't God help me," I wondered,
He answered: "You didn't ask".
I wanted to see joy and beauty,
But the day toiled on, gray and bleak;
I wondered why God didn't show me,
He said, "But you didn't seek".
I tried to come into God's presence,
I used all my keys at the lock;
God gently and lovingly chided"
"My child you didn't knock".
I woke up early this morning
And paused before entering the day;
I had so much to accomplish
That I had to take time to pray.
Prayer works, just do it. Turn to the Lord.
"Pray, He is there
Speak, He is listening"
Wednesday, I will be getting EMERGENCY TRANSFERED UP NORTH!!! Stay tuned
I love you all
