Two Missionaries Walk Into A Bar...

SUCH A GOOD WEEK. 


Let's get into it! 
What's my fav food? Cheeseburgers. Tuesday night, I was looking up Burger Restaurants in Owosso. "The Rainbow Bar" popped up, and the reviews were amazing, so I told my comp about it, and we went. We walk in and it's like a striaght up biker gang type of bar, and here we are in our skirts, holding our bibles walking in. We got some attention from a few men at the bar and we ordered our food. We introduced ourselves while we ate, and one guy said he's seen missionaries around before, and we were like "Thats awesome! Do you know what we do?" And he goes... " You help people." In a soft, sweet voice. We started choppin it up with these guys that were 3 beers in and ended up giving one of them a Book of Mormon! We got his number and took a pic with him and everything! His name is Bird! Good guy. The spirit was strong in this lil Owosso Bar. 


Saturday morning, we woke up at 6am to go kill 2 cows. It was so cool! Im kidding. I gagged the entire time and I might've cried once or twice. JK, no tears, but as much as I wish I was that cool farmer girl that could just hold a cow's stomach in my hands and think nothing of it... I am just not built that way. I am a girly girl, I'm a Clanton! Brother Coy ( member in our ward ) invited us to his farm to watch his butcher friend come over and cut up his cows. We saw everything. Brother Coy had his brother and nephew come to watch as well and we got to talk to them about church which was really good! It was actually a really fun morning! To top it all off, Brother Coy gave us pounds and pounds of this really nice hamburger meat and we have been eating burgers for breakfast, lunch and dinner..... literally all I could ever want! 


We had a few facebook miracles this week. I friended this girl named Tiffany and she actually messaged me first, asking me about my birthday because it was the same birthday as her son who died when he was only 17 days old! I asked her if she thought she was ever gonna see him again in heaven and we got into some good Plan of Salvation talk. She then told me she had been looking for a church to start attending. We're hoping to meet her this week! God has prepared people for us and Tiffany is definitely one of them! Facebook work is effective and I think changing my attitude has helped me with finding quite a bit. I used to think it was so pointless and distracting until I changed my mindset going into it. I have been able to share my testimony as well as many scriptures with people in Owosso through Facebook! Im grateful for modern technology we have access to help gather Israel! 


Exchanges!!!
I got to go down to Jackson on Saturday! I had so much fun with Sister Jamison! She's one of our STLs in the Lansing Zone. They share the area with Elders that are in a trio, and we got to teach a lesson with them! There were 5 of us missionaries on a porch teaching the Restoration to these two guys that lived downtown. Such a cool experience. There was so much power in that lesson that I will never forget.


AJ got baptized yesterday! Love that kid. The Baptism was beautiful. A lot of his family members were able to attend and he did great! Lots of tears were shed and I'm sure everyone in that room felt the love that our Savior has for us. AJ and his Mom sang. It was tender. I love the people here. We've had such a good week, full of lessons, visiting members and finding friends. I'm learning how to find joy in the work every day. There is so much good here in Michigan. Sister Abbeglen and I are having fun being missionaries! These first 3 months have been wild. Here's to 15 more!

Miracles In Detroit

Hello friends! So much has happened these last two weeks!!! My companion and I sometimes like to wrestle during our lunch and dinner hours. Some of these fights turn into water fights. Long story short, there was water on the kitchen floor, and we were both sprinting into the kitchen because the best weapon in a water fight is the side sink sprayer. Sister Abegglen slips on the water in the kitchen, and both of her feet flew up in the air, and she fell head first on the floor. We were laughing so hard. Until she thought she was concussed. That wasn't funny. That was a memory I'll never forget. She's all good now, but the bump on her head was insane.  Our mission got approved to go to the Detroit Temple!!! 1 Month Down Already!!

Hi friends!  This week has pulled at my heart strings quite a bit. My oldest sister Kayla and her family live in Midland Michigan, a little over an hour away from Owosso. I had my first zone conference in Lansing, and my mission president INVITED MY SISTER!!! It was such a blessing to see her, even Brody (her husband) and my niece Summer came along. I even got to see Elder Mower who is from my home ward in Washington! The lord knew I needed to see some familiar faces this week. I've been struggling with the adjustment more than I thought I would've. Seeing little Summer come running down the hallway at the church with two flowers for my trainer and I was just the best sight, I almost cried! They took us out to TRH for dinner and like always we all pretty much filled up on the rolls haha. Grateful for my fam! Terry. Oh man this guy. He cracks me up just like my dad! Zone Conference x2

This week was so special!!!!! Church yesterday was crazy! People from my old areas came to see me! This whole family from Saginaw came, and the legend himself, Brother Coy, came all the way from Owosso. I couldn't believe it! We had our friend come to church, but he straight up had an ankle monitor on hahaha, we just had no idea! We stopped teaching him :/ We have this newly baptized family that hasn't been to church in almost a month, and they showed up, and Sarah is pregnant and they're struggling with money at the moment. Brother Coy gave them $150, and it was just the coolest thing to witness God's divine timing, yet again on the mission. Brother Coy was supposed to be there yesterday for Sarah and her family. We spent HOURS knocking. It's my favorite thing, but man, it's so so hot and humid. We met this angel, Kathleen. We got to teach her about the great Plan of Salvation.
